After my Father died my sep-mother discovered this oil painting from behind a chest of doors in the spare bedroom. I know little of it's history but remember it in the hall way at my Grandfather's home in Camberley. Having been a Brigadier in the Royal Engineers both in the first and second world wars I am assuming it was purchased during these troubled times. I believe it could be a picture of the Cossacks retreating from Moscow or Leningrad as you can just see the smoldering ruins of a city on the horizon. I've had it fully restored and a new frame, by Simon Foster, these photo's are pre-restoration, and sadly no artists signature was found. It's a great picture and needs to be hung in a home with a gentleman's study, sadly something I have not, so it's for sale.
